Presentation link will be sent to members.

David has a degree specializing in biogeography, with an emphasis on resource management and has spent most of his career working with the preservation of natural environment parks. He worked for the City of Calgary in various forms of Natural Area management for 40+ years starting as maintenance/naturalist at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary.  In his job as Coordinator he worked with many people, fighting for the protection of natural areas in the City. That included critical efforts by Nature Calgary (then the Calgary Field Naturalists’ Society).  He helped create the Natural Areas Management Plan, coordinated the management of over 400 natural area parks in Calgary, the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary volunteer program, the Peregrine Falcon program, he negotiated with the development industry for the preservation of natural areas, and did environmental assessments to name a few.  In 1970, he was the Chief Park Naturalist at Fish Creek Provincial Park, and later taught nature photography, hiking and bird watching for the City, The University of Calgary and Mount Royal over the years. He also did consulting with his company “Kinglet Natural History Services” in other cities.  He wrote a book on the Bird Sanctuary and for many years wrote a nature column for the Calgary Herald.  The Natural Area Management Plan won numerous awards including Canadian Municipalities Environmental Achievement Award and he was lucky to be the recipient of the “2000” Emerald Award for environmental achievement.
