Presentation title: Maintaining Wildlife Movement in the Calgary Region

The presenter will be Nicole Kaha Conservation Analyst Miistakis Institute

What is ecological connectivity and why is it important? What are the challenges to maintaining ecological connectivity in our region? Learn how the Miistakis Institute and partners are addressing the pressing need to maintain ecological connectivity through monitoring wildlife with camera-traps, determining amphibian presence, and ultimately delineating a regional ecological network to be protected. Project partners are the City of Calgary, Foothills County, Rocky View County, Friends of Fish Creek, Weaselhead/Glenmore Park Preservation Society and Alberta Forestry and Parks.

Bio:
Nicole Kahal is a Conservation Analyst with the Miistakis Institute, a not-for-profit applied conservation research institute affiliated with Mount Royal University. At Miistakis, Nicole focuses on the research areas of ecological connectivity, biodiversity, and ecosystem-based climate adaptation. Nicole holds a Master of Environmental Science and Management from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona.
