Kenow Fire – The recovery of Waterton Parks
Presenter: Kimberly Pearson
Kimberly Pearson manages the park’s post-fire science program. Her talk will provide a brief overview of how the fire unfolded, discuss its impacts on the park and the renewal that has taken place since, as well as some of the research that’s been underway. She will also point to volunteer opportunities in the area as well.
Kim Pearson works as an Ecosystem Scientist for Parks Canada in Waterton Lakes National Park, coordinating post-fire ecology, wildlife movement, and species at risk projects. She is Chair of the Waterton Biosphere Reserve Association. She collaborated for ten years on the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s neighboring Waterton Park Front Project and has consulted on various projects for organizations such as the Southern Alberta Land Trust Society.
