Something fishy’s going on! Seafood mislabeling in Calgary and its implications for conservation
Abstract
Calgarians consume a lot of seafood, but what you bought may not always be what you got. Seafood mislabeling has been detected in cities worldwide. Here we explore a multi-year dataset collected by undergraduate biology students, comparing product names to their DNA-based identifications. The results include some surprises that may impact the flourishing of both us and the fishes.
