Description: A brief overview of Elk Island National Park’s ecological monitoring and active management priorities. Elk island comprises a diverse ecosystem, protecting one of the few remaining blocs of Aspen Parkland. Many wildlife inhabit the park, notably Elk Island sits at the forefront of bison conservation, safeguarding both Wood and Plains species.

Bio: Annelise Geisterfer is a Resource Management Officer at Elk Island National Park. She has worked for Elk Island for approximately 5 years, and for Parks Canada for 7. She currently leads the invasive plant management and amphibian monitoring programs for the park, as well as being an active member of the bison management team during the winter months.
