South Saskatchewan Regional Land Use planning is now in Phase 3 of public consultations. Comment on the draft plan by Jan 14 either by letter or online workbook . This plan will affect watersheds, recreation, industry, and conservation in all of southern Alberta from the mountains to the prairies. Conservation groups see the draft as a slight improvement on the status quo but say headwaters protection and protection of native grasslands is insufficient, considering the large number of species at risk in SE regions of the province. At a series of open-house meetings, Off-Road Vehicle use was a commonly-raised issue.

Does this draft plan provide “land-use system that will effectively balance competing economic, environmental and social demands”?  Have your say.
