Nature Kids: “Bat Walk” Inglewood Bird Sanctuary
August 11, 2018 @ 8:30 pm - 11:30 pm
Does the very word “bat” conjure up images of evil, witchcraft, and sorcery? Would it surprise you to know that bats are actually very effective pest exterminators and allow us to enjoy a sliced banana on our cereal and peaches with ice cream? Come and join us for a “Bat Walk” with Cory Olson, Program Coordinator, Alberta Community Bat Program to learn more about these fascinating creatures. After the sun goes down, we’ll use bat detectors to listen to the sounds of foraging bats. This program is weather dependent as bats tend to be most active during good weather (warm, calm, and not raining). Dress appropriately for cooler evening temperatures. A small flashlight will be helpful on the path. As gates are locked between 9:30-10:00 pm, park outside the gates along 9th Avenue. Space is limited, so please register by contacting Joan Walker, herbiehilda@gmail.com, 403-271-4578 by August 6th.
