Topic: Barn Swallows: Migration and Speciation Across the Globe

About the Speaker: 
Gina Calabrese is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Colorado Boulder.  She completed her Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 2022, and previously received her masters and bachelor of science degrees at the University of Texas at Austin. She began birding during an ornithology course at the University of Texas and was immediately hooked. In 2023, she organized a Barn Swallow sampling expedition across southwestern Canada, facilitated by help finding sites from birders from Calgary to Vancouver (including Nature Calgary members), as well as naturalists from Parks Canada and others.
