Nature Calgary recently added its support to a letter sent by Nature Alberta to the Government of Alberta regarding the Wildlife (Grizzly Bear – Ministerial) Amendment Regulation. This amendment permits the hunting of grizzly bears, which are a Threatened species. As Nature Alberta states in the letter, the amendment “does not align with the Alberta Grizzly Bear Recovery Plan that was implemented in 2020, nor does it align with the conservation efforts of a listed Threatened species.” We are strongly against this amendment.

Joining Nature Alberta and Nature Calgary were eight other nature organizations. The letter was sent to the Minister of Forestry and Parks, and the Minister of Environment and Protected Areas.
