March 2026 Speaker Series: Predatory Dinosaurs of the Morrison

An overview of dinosaurs, presented as real, complex animals (opposed to mere cinematic monsters). The predator guild of the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation will serve as the backdrop to emphasize these points. Including predator-prey dynamics, niche partitioning, competition, and more.
Matthew Ellerbeck is a passionate Dinosaur Outreach Educator. He is the creator of Dinosaur Devoted, an education initiative dedicated to improving public understanding of dinosaurs and their paleobiology. From a young age he was captivated by dinosaurs, building prehistoric displays with his toy collection and absorbing dinosaur books and films. This lifelong fascination ultimately broadened into an interest in conservation. Over the years, Ellerbeck has given hundreds of workshops and presentations at universities, botanical gardens, and schools. He has earned awards and nominations for his work, and appeared in various media. He has completed formal paleobiology courses from the American Museum of Natural History and from field paleontologist Kristi Curry Rogers of Macalester College.
