DESCRIPTION:Alberta’s Native Bees\nDid you know there are over 300 species of native bees in Alberta? Join us to learn about the diversity of bees in Alberta\, the challenges they are facing and what you can do to help them! \nPresenter: Megan Evans \nMegan has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s degree in Ecology both from the University of Calgary. While in school\, she spent a summer working with Agriculture Canada on a pollinator research study and this was the beginning of her love of native bees. Megan spent five years with the provincial government\, most recently as an Ecologist with Alberta Parks and is now the Executive Director of the Alberta Invasive Species Council. Megan has sat on the board for the Alberta Invasive Species Council\, the Entomological Society of Alberta; and she co-founded the Alberta Native Bee Council. \nDue to COVID-19\, meetings will be held via Zoom. Links and meeting codes will be emailed to members closer to the event date.
