SUMMARY:Invasive Plant Pull on St. Patrick's Island
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hands-on adventure in nature as we roll up our sleeves and give St. Patrick’s Island a little TLC! We’re teaming up to remove invasive plants—pesky species that crowd out our beautiful native vegetation and make life harder for the birds and wildlife that call the island home. \nNo experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm and a love for the outdoors! We’ll provide all the tools\, some plant ID tips\, and a chance to learn more about the island’s natural beauty. It’s a great way to give back\, get your hands dirty (in a good way)\, and enjoy a few laughs with fellow nature lovers. \nExpect a little sweat\, a lot of satisfaction\, and maybe even a few feathered friends cheering you on. Families\, friends\, and solo volunteers all welcome—this is an all-ages event! \nGet tickets on Eventbrite. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nWater bottle\nGarden gloves (we’ll have extras too)\nWeather-appropriate clothing\nA good attitude and maybe a picnic for after!\n\nLet’s work together to keep this island wild\, wonderful\, and welcoming to native species! \nPlease note that this event will run 9:30am – 11:30am \nWe will provide all tools\, garbage bags\, and safety gear. We will also provide expert guidance on how to identify and remove some of the invasive plants on the island. \nThese events are presented in partnership between East Village and Nature Calgary\, with all registration fees being donated directly to Nature Calgary. \nParking: Please note that if you are parking on the street you can pay for your session at any of the parking payment kiosks. If you are parking in the lot\, you can only pay for your session using the mobile app from Calgary Parking Authority (https://www.calgaryparking.com/paying-for-parking/mobile-app.html) \nAll walks will start and end at the event board near 656 Confluence Way SE on the RiverWalk pathway. \nPlease note that this is an outdoor event please dress for the conditions. We will provide notice in writing and refund your tickets if the weather meets the following conditions: \n\nAdverse weather conditions (Smoke\, Heavy Rain/Snow\, flooding\, etc.)\nAt the discretion of CMLC supervisor based on weather conditions.\n\nThe upcoming event is accessible to all\, regardless of age or ability. \n\nThe pathways are flat. Some pathways are unpaved but they are well compacted. Guides will exercise discretion based on the group’s abilities on which pathways they will take. Please let the guide know if you feel uncomfortable with any chosen path – want to ensure you feel safe!\nNature Calgary has taken measures to accommodate those with sight or hearing impairments\nGuides are knowledgeable about plants and can modify plant id for those with sight impairments\nSight cues will be available for those with hearing impairments\nDogs are not allowed at the event unless medically necessary. This helps ensure the safety and comfort of the wildlife\nThe event is LGBTQ+ friendly\, welcoming people of all orientations and identities.\n\nGet tickets on Eventbrite.
